Overview

The present proposal deals with the collaboration between the Universities of Southern and Eastern England, and Normandy (upper and lower Normandy) in the field of chemistry to promote the AngloNorman region as a Centre of Excellence for research and training in synthetic chemistry. Our objective is to equip the next generation of synthetic chemists with the skills needed to become leaders in the European and International chemical industry and academia, and to provide inspiration to pursue entrepreneurial ventures. The project is based on :

  • A longstanding and highly successful collaboration between Lower and the Upper Normandy in the field of molecular chemistry (synthesis and polymers: Network CRUNCh and RMPP)
  • The formal scientific exchanges, established in 1991, over the nine Anglo-Norman meetings (Anglo Norman Organic ColloQuium ANORCQ), linking the research institutes of Caen, Rouen, East Anglia, Southampton, and Cambridge.
